First off, I'm 26 and this is the first instance of pain and swelling with only one tooth. My children are age 4 and 2. Will I need to call my mom to help me after the procedure? I kind of want to avoid that.

  1. I had two wisdom teeth taken out a while back and went to work that afternoon.  I think the pain a person has depends on their pain thresh hold.

  2. I have had my bottom two wisdom teeth cut out surgically and a couple of years later my top two pulled out. Both are uncomfortable afterward. I would suggest that you do call your mom for help as I have a two year old also and know how much work just one child can be let alone two. I remember sleeping for quite some time after both procedures, a bit more with the surgery because they do put you under. The doctors office should have given you some Valium to take before you go to get your teeth removed and if so you will need someone to drive you and pick you up and after wards you will most likely be given some strong pain killers usually vicodin which makes some people sleep. So unfortunately you will need some help after wards. Good Luck!

  3. I've had it done. I had them just give me a local anesthetic. That way I avoided all the drug haze. I was able to drive myself home. You should have help for 24 hours. If you do need pain killers they will make it a bit harder to function.

  4. you might if you get all druged up.... pulling of the wisdome teeth is a painfull ordeal... i had mine pulled recently and they let me out to early and i got lost and wound being found by neighbor who had to call my husband.. i past out on my neighbors couch... so i would look into getting help...

  5. Well it depends if you are just getting that one tooth out or all of them out.

I just got all of mine out and I definitely needed just a day to relax, because I was so out of it from being under.

If you are only getting one out, you probably won't be under that long and you probably won't need as much recovery time.

Who is taking you to get it done and driving you home? If you are only getting one then I would just ask them to stay for a couple of hours.

If you are getting all of them out though, you may need to call your mother to help out for a day or two. It shouldn't be any longer than that. Look at the bright side though of having her come, she basically has to get anything you ask, especially the first day because you'll be really woozy.

  6. Bloody h**l mate, only one tooth? If you let  them pull that you wont have any bloody teeth.
