  1. No one Malware Removal program is "Better" than another.  They all have their faults and each one will develop a new signature or fix before or after another..  You need a layered approach of defense.

    One important thing is the fact that you should completely update the Operating System and ALL of the patches.  If your machine is patched for the vulnerability on the HD, then YOU cannot get infected.  It is the more proactive approach (patching your machine, keeping your software updated, using the most current firmware and drivers).  AV is ALWAYS reactive!

    Your best start is to read to this forum -

    Which will walk you thru the tools listed -

    Good Luck!

    EDIT - AVG and AVAST are at the bottom of the barrel when compared against PAID programs.  Your telling this guy to uninstall EOD or TrendMicros (without knowing WHAT he has) to put something that is FREE?  How stupid is that!

    Your first recommendation should be to use an ONLINE Virus scanner such as TrendMicros Housecalls!

  2. ->Open TaskManager

    ->Find and kill the process antivrs.exe

    ->Go to C:\Program Files

    ->Find the folder Antivirus2009y or Antivirus2008y

    ->Remove it. Done!

    I Hope this would help you.

  3. This is a highly infective virus. My computer had a similar virus, Win antivirus, and there was nothing we could do. We had to take the computer in for service and have everything totally rebooted. It sucked, but worked. If you have any programs you want to save, copy them because they may have to wipe your computer. They didn't wipe ours, but they origanally thought they might need to. Better safe then sorry.
