Question:

I need to get rid of cockroaches...

I live in an apartment, and keep my place religiously and meticulously clean (I am known around my circle of friends as "Monica", you know, the neat freak from Friends!). However, it doesn't matter how clean I keep my place, we keep getting cockroaches! We have been told that some of our neighbours aren't as clean as they could be, so that's maybe the reason why. Is there anything I can do to get rid of them and prevent them from coming back?

  1. We have the same problem, but I think our neighbor's pool is what is attracting the roaches...Okay, there is a spray on the market called "Bengal Ant & Roach" which you can find at either Wal-Mart or some hardware stores.  It comes in a red and black can with a tiger on it.  You will probably need 2 or 3 cans of it for the first spraying, and it's not real cheap, but it works.  Just follow the directions on the can, being sure you spray under furniture and around windowsills, baseboards, etc.  You may see roaches coming out of hiding for about 24-48 hours after you spray, but they will die by themselves or you can always kill them.  You'll have to spray once every six months or so to keep the roaches from coming back, though.  That's the only way to prevent another infestation.

  2. I definitely, can relate. I hate cockroaches also, and keep my

place as clean as clean can be!

What I read was a 1 lb. can of Boric Acid compound can keep

a house roach free for a year. It will not kill roaches as quickly

as some pesticides will, but it has the longest lasting effect.

Sprinkle it into all cracks, crevices, under sinks, and all dark

places. To rid them immediately, spray with a pesticide, then

after a few days start using the boric acid method.

I think you will find this helpful..... Good Luck!

  3. You can make your own roach baits...  Mix boric acid it's found in the laundry aisle with sugar AND some CRISCO shortening to form a paste put on pieces of cardboard and place it areas away from childen/pets... In cupboards, behind appliances anywhere you've seen roaches... They will eat it and DIE!   You may also want to make your kitchen uninhabitable for pests by storing any boxed items like cereal/pasta in glass or sealable plastic containers.. Wipe down cupboards INSIDE/OUTSIDE and remove food/water for pets...

You can also spray the perimeter INSIDE/OUTSIDE with ORTHOMAX HOME DEFENSE spray- it's around $20 for a gallon and it comes with a sprayer.... Spray around doors, windows, foundation lines... Behind appliances it's non-staining.... It also keeps out spiders, ants, beetles, silverfish, and other insects.... It has a money-back guarantee!   Lasts for around 6 months...

Fogging/Bombing will also work... RAID makes an excellent pesticide.... A 6 pk is around $30.

  4. We bought an old house that we was remodeling had some roaches we bought the combat gel. It works great. They also have a gel for ants to I've tried both products they work great!

  5. You need to talk to your landlord first off.

If there is nothing he can do then I suggest you get the gel stuff. It works the best, and is safer than spray. You can put it around windows and doors so they can't come in. :)

    Good luck.
