I need to get some information about the areas around UTS in Sydney?

what area is safe and has a reasonable rent price?

i would stay a little out of the area such as glebe, forest lodge or pyrmont. rent my be a little more expensive, but the areas seem a lot nicer than areas right next to uts

I live in Redfern - everyone tells everyone not to live there.  The advantage is that i walk to UTS, and the rent is cheaper, and I have never had a problem - no one's even stopped me, let alone stolen money etc.  But your choice.

As far as places to rent - you'll see many ads on lightpoles in the city, mainly for share apartments in the city, often with many people per room, even the living room. I recommend flatmatefinders.com.au (that's how I found some good places).  You can also try domain.com.au and realestate.com.au  Domain has an option to find places to share, as well as rent.  I recommend living with others - you will learn more about the city, and will probably pay less.  Good luck

Broadway, Ultimo, Pyrmont, Chippendale, Darlington, Glebe, Redfern, Camperdown, Newtown.

None could be guarranteed safe, I would not go to Redfern. There maybe student flats available.Rents would be pricey, check online for rental properties thru Yahoo or Ninemsn
