I need to go from Manchester Piccadilly to Stoke on Trent on Saturday 8th December. What time's the last train

Is it really 20.54??? Or could we leave Manchester later and go via somewhere else then Stoke? Tried trainline and Virgin but can't get any answers

Hi there I am afraid it is at 20:54.

I work for the railways and have looked at all the alternative routes that I can think off like via Warrington, Leeds, Crew, & Wigan, and I cannot find a thing. I was so surprised I told the other guy/girls about it here in our office at Kings Cross and none of us can believe that there is nothing running. The only conclusion that we have come to is that the line must be shut down for engineering.
