Recently my mom gave me $60 and took $60 out of my bank account to go shopping, but all I got is 2 pairs of jeans, a pair of jean shorts, and a pair on converse. I have $25 left, but I kind of want to save it for other things. I really need shirts (I had to wear one of my sisters for the first day today) but my mom says that I have plenty of clothes and all of them fit me. The problem is is that I've had all of my clothes for at least two years and everyone has seen them already. I love to shop on clearence at Abercrombie & Fitch and at Hollister, but I never shop off clearence unless I have a gift card. My mom says that she'll never buy me anything from there, but some of their clearence is really cheap and a lot of it is really cute.

My mom took me shopping a while back and bought me a tank top, a tee shirt, and a sweatshirt and said I'm done 'till Christmas. There is no way. I've been taking money (actually my mom has been doing it for me, but still) out of my savings account and now I only have like $500 left and that money is supposed to be for college books and stuff like that. I don't want to take any more out, and my mom gets mad when I ask her to take money out for me (and my sister thinks it's wrong and I should save it) but then my mom gets really pissed at me when I say I need to go shopping but have no money. What do I do??

Please don't say get a job, I'm 13. I'm working on getting a babysitting job, but that only pays like $5 a hour. My mom has said before that she'd buy me clothes and not my sister becuse my sister is 18 and has a job, but I feel bad because my parent's financial state isn't good.

What should I do? Thanks in advance, I really appreciate all of your help! =]

  1. Ask your mom if she will take you to a thrift store. I know, I know, you're thinking 'A THRIFT STORE, NO WAY!!!!", but seriously I have a teenager who like you loves to shop and does not have a job. She like you also loves those brand name clothes. There are great deals to find at a thrift shop, you will be amazed at how much you can get for your $25.00.

    Good luck

  2. wear what you have and don't buy anymore. If you really, really want different clothes, get together with some of your friends and trade clothes for a while. The outfits may have been seen before, but I bet not on you.

  3. ' The problem is is that I've had all of my clothes for at least two years and everyone has seen them already. '

Wow. I'm really sorry for you. I mean wearing clothes that people have already seen is much worse than global warming, or homelessness, or the war. My deepest condolences. I mean its only right for your mom to take you shopping at Hollister! But really, I hope your life stops being so incredibly impoverished due to the fact that your clothes are a little old.

  4. do u get an  allowence? if  u do save it !!!!! when u save it , it adds up.also, get that babysitting job , that'll definitly help and like i said it will add up .allways remember to save , then u can spend .like when u go to the store with ur mom u can buy the clothes u want with ur money. that will make ur mom happy she dosen't have to spend her money or take money out of ur savings account. if u don't get an allowence(like i do),then if u have ''good'' friends or generous  family members, and they GIVE u money save that as well.  believe  me i know ,i'm 14,rigth now i have about twenty-five dollars and saving, and none of it came from my mom,so it does work.

  5. Thrift stores...and stop being so materialistic about designer labels.
