  1. Amtrak goes to Cheyenne, I believe the train is called "The Pioneer", one of the old CB&Q names.  Anyway, you can check up on it at:

  2. To travel from Chicago to Cheyenne on Amtrak, you would board the "California Zephyr" from Chicago to Denver, an 18 1/2 hour trip, then an Amtrak bus from Denver to Cheyenne, a 4 hour trip.  One way fare is $213.00. round trip is $361.00

  3. Yeah you take the Amtrak California Zephyr.  Nice overnight ride.

PRICES VARY dramatically.  Amtrak uses yield management strategies like the airlines, so prices are all over the map.  For $400 I've crossed the whole country.

  4. Hi.  I'm from Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Sorry for bursting your bubble, but there is no train to Denver.  There use to be trains from Denver to Cheyenne, but those stopped years ago.  Now the only time they run a commuter train is during the Rodeo & Frontier Days at the end of July for a since of nostalgia.

You could always take a train to Denver and rather than taking a bus to Cheyenne, take a shuttle. There are tons of companies that have shuttle companies and you should easily be able to get hear with no problems.  Depending on your hotel, they might pick you up and take you to the amtrak station for free.

  5. I am not certain but I think the UP Amtrak route goes there. Google amtrak and you oughta get a route map. Traveling by train is a neat way to go, you can move about, great way to see country. True, our rail system in this country is second rate compared to Europe but still it is a neat way to go.

  6. I don't recommend it.  The ride from Denver to Cheyenne is on a bus.  It's outrageously expensive - $400 roundtrip.  It's probably cheaper and quicker to drive.
