Question:

I need to identify this cutlery?

My parents have a 133 piece set of cutlery with gold inlay. It bears the word Jager and what appears to be a trademark of a kneeling rifleman. It was made in Germany (we know that much). Does anyone know how to identify the manufacturer & possible valuation as they want to sell it?

  1. I guess that is what you are looking for.

    Silberwarenfabrik Jaeger GMBH.

Check out their website and you will find the trademark of the kneeling rifleman

    http://www.silberwarenfabrik-jaeger.de/

  2. Get in touch with the US-German Chamberof Commerce in Washington DC, or any German Consulate (General).

  3. get one of those book thingys

or go online to yahoo answers

    or try e bay

  4. You will need to either post a photo or find more info about the set.  Is it flatware, is it silver, is it place settings, full sets or mixed pieces?

Jager, [which is German for hunter] probably describes the scene of the kneeling rifleman and not the manufacturer.

    Antiques roadshow?  good luck!

  5. Solingen and Henckle are the best German cutlery I know.

  6. take it to a chef or something and see if they know

  7. Jager means light infantry in German.  You will have to look in a silver marking book to match your manufacturer.

  8. take it to auctioneers and they will value it and tell u what marks are all about.
