  1. 2100 should cut it for most of the SUNY campuses. You can call the admissions office at the campuses you wish to attend, and ask to speak to an admission counselor. He or she should tell you the average score and the lower limit. Thjere will be some students applying that will have perfect scores. Don't let that throw you; it has nothing to do with your chances.

You say "how can I improve my score without a course"? But why limit yourself? The College Board has its own course, with real SAT questions at every level of difficulty and with all the answers explained. The course also provides 8 real time tests, with real SAT questions, so you can take the test every week and check your progress. The course, at $70, is a bargain.

There are tons of SAT practice books, and a lot of them have more sample questions than the College Board SAT book. So I would use the latter + another book. Kaplan has lots of sample questions organized by level of difficulty. This is very important because if you want to improve your score you will have to climb the ladder of difficulty.

Because you already have a score you can also get the student answer scorecard from the college board, which lets you know each question you missed and at what level of difficulty. This is your sure-fire path top improving your score. If you don't already have this, call the college bnoard and get it. It is available for every SAT.

Because two sets of eyes are better than one, I would strongly encourage you to study with a friend who is also very interested and commited to raising his or her score. A parent who is equipped and has the time might even be better. My wife works with my 17 year old son and has had good results.

  2. I like that score!!!! You just study harder. I am not sure about the other part.

  3. its do-able, practice,practice,practice

  4. 300 points is a huge jump, 60 points is the average increase. If you took it the first time with no preparation and then you take a class and study like mad, it's possible but not probable.

A 2100 will put you in the running for Stern, especially if your math score is above 730. If you're a good math student your math score is the easiest to improve by really studying and remembering formulas. Good luck, Stern is a great school!

  5. study study study study...works for most
