I need to know a few things...?

I'm turning 16 in a few months and I'm saving for a car. But what else besides a far do I need to save up for that is requires to have and drive the car? Like liscense plates, insurance... Am I missing anything? I live in Missouri.

  1. well if your not going  to be insured under your parents name, i suggest you save alot of money for insurance, road tax and mot.


  2. Yes, a parent willing to work with you, put the car in their name, and add you to their insurance.  At 16 you can't enter any financial dealings, and insurance is a financial dealing.

    Likewise you can't own the car until you're 18.

    Price of Registration

    Price of Insurance

    Price of gas

    Price of Maintenance (hopefully only oil changes, tune-ups, tires, and brakes)

    Price of Driver's License.

    Price of traffic ticket(s)

    That should be pretty much it. The reason I said ticket is because 85% of drivers driving less than a year get a ticket of some kind.
