My fiance and I are ttc and well I'm a little scared to get stretch marks. I have heard if your mother had bad stretch marks then most likely you will too. Well my mother had very bad stretch marks. I'm pretty petite so I am really scared I will never be able to wear a two piece swim suit or something in public. I want a baby really bad so is there anything I can buy over the counter to help stretch marks. I have heard the creams don't really work. It's not a big deal if I get them, because I am expecting them, Its just a bonus if I can find something to reduce the amount I get. If you know anything that works please tell me!

  1. The women in my family are prone to getting stretch marks too...but the only pregnancy induced stretch marks I have are under my arms....everyone else in my family had them galore at this point in their pregnancy - belly, b*****s, hips. So they're kinda sour at me for that. LOL!

Also, whether the creams work or not....I don't know. Some say to use cocoa butter or special balms...but you never know just how sensitive to smell you will get in pregnancy - I personally had to get rid of all traces of cocoa butter in my house because the smell was killing me. So even your best plans for avoiding stretch marks while pregnant may not work out.

  2. ....

this is the most vain thing I have seen in this category in a long while. Be thankful if you are able to carry a child to term. Stretch marks are a very small price to pay for the life of your own child.

  3. Unfortunately nothing really works if you're prone to getting them. You can TRY to keep your belly moisturized in hopes of avoiding them or only getting a limited amount but it usually doesn't work.

My belly itched like CRAZY so I used Palmers Tummy Butter on it and it helped ease that and also helped keep it moisturized.

  4. look my mom has none but I got lots and my cousins have none so I asked what did they use and my mom told them to use what she used its called smooth sensations by nevia and I wish I would have used it when I got fat good luck

  5. i am VERY prone to stretch marks but only when i lose weight! you may not notice them until AFTER you lose all of the weight, so i say put the cream on while you are pregnant  and after, until you have lost all the weight you wanna lose... the LOSS of weight is what causes stretch marks to appear, not the gain of it!

  6. There is a cream you can get at Mother Hood ( a maternity clothing store) that you put on all throughout your pregnancy. It doesnt "prevent" stretch marks, what is it does is it helps your skin become more elastic so it stretches easier. I really dont remember what it is called and I wanted to try it out but never got it, but that lady there said that it does work.

    You could always try it!?

    Good luck ttc!.

  7. Use plenty of coco butter.. try not to scratch  the body when it stretches and itches .. just avoid it...

Pregnancy is not a easy thing but seeing your baby's face is worth of all trouble we go thru including stretch marks..

    good luck

  8. think of scretch marks as a baby tattoo....and really it isn't that important, i think having baby is much much much exciting and more important than worry about scretch marks. You dont have to have genes from ur mother, it depends on what kind of skin you have, if it is scretcheable or not. You can try baby oil after shower, it could help a little like the lotions they have for scretch marks. but none are 100%

  9. The best thing to use is Cocoa butter, its especially good if you start it at the beginning of you pregnancy to the end it will reduce the amount you get or their visability.

    Good luck!
