  1. Ever heard of Google?

  2. They are good at Bobsledding

  3. Capital City: Bern

    Population over 7m

    Small & pricey...

One might say when focussing on the big picture, only.

As a Swiss native I have to admit that at least the price structure is rather un-appealing to most foreign tourists.

Taking into account that the wage level is higher than most neighbouring countries, people working in Switzerland will hardly realise the high cost level.

Then again: you will get SWISS QUALITY for it!

On the other hand, Switzerland has it all:

short disctances, measuring a mere 41,285 sqkm/15,940 sq mi (you can cross the country by train in 4-6 hours), beautiful landscapes including mountainous areas, rivers and lakes, charming cities and towns, friendly people, extremely well-developed public transport and low crime rates complete the picture.

    RE: Languages

There are four official languages in Switzerland: Swiss German (comparable to a very strong German dialect), (Swiss) French, (Swiss) Italian and Rumantsch.

I would bet that any Swiss you meet knows at least two of the three main languages (Rumantsch is less common).

Despite the first answer I would still say that getting around with English should be possible, as transportation and hotel/restaurant staff are - if not fluent - capable of understanding and replying in English.

Then again you might want to consider that for some Swiss it is already rather difficult to speak proper (high) German, so how can you expect them to be fluent in a language that is even less related?

    MUST SEEs:

Cities/Old Towns: Bern, Lucerne, Geneva, Basel, St. Gallen

    Landscapes: Lucerne, Appenzell (Area), Interlaken

    Art/Museums: Zurich, Basel, Lucerne

UNESCO World Heritage: St. Gallen Library

    Sadie C: Stockholm?!?

  4. stockholm and zurich are the major cities in Switzerland.  They are known for the swiss watches and chocolate.  Switzerland is only country that has never gone to war.  Tourist attractions would include the swiss alps and ski resorts.  The bank accounts are always nice to keep your money in.
