I need to know about getting citizenship in Spain. I dont know where to start?!?

I am intersted in getting citizenship in Spain. I was born here in America, my mother is a native Spainard and I was told that I also can become a citizen of Spain because of my mothers background. What papers do I need to fill out and how do I go about getting these forms? I am completly lost in who i must contact. Anyone have any ideas??

If when you were born your mother was a Spaniard, you are automatically a Spaniard. You need to go to your closest Spanish Embassy or Consulate and ask for the paperwork and documentation to prove those facts. You'll be able to have dual citizenship and travel freely to Spain and Europe. Here is a list of Embassies and Consulates.
