I need to know about the social history of classical music in the past...?

I want to know where classical musics being played, who listens to them, who hates them, the what book should I read? or anybody can explain a bit? or better if there's an online reading about the history of classic music! thanks!

Classical music is listened to by people from all walks of life, it was preceded by folk music from different parts of Europe, and was followed by the popular misic of today, without it there would be no Rock and Roll, no hip hop, or any other grenre of music that is around today.  check out this link
