  1. (1) While everybody will tell you that the best time to visit Venice is from April to September, mainly due to weather, i would suggest something different.

I think that visiting Venice during the carnival, usually near the end of January (this year from 25 of January until 5 of February. If you are a bit lucky with the weather, you will see a magical Venice, full of color (and visitors during the weekend). I promise you that you will NEVER forget it and you want to come every year.

Have an idea of the carnival:

    (2) If guess you have your hotel covered. So with the food, some entrace fees, the vaporeto, i would guess less that 100 euros per day. Venice is not cheap if you stay and move central.

    (3) The things you must do? In three days.

    - Visit San Marco square and the Church. Entrance is free but you pay a small fee to climb to the top balcony. Do it !!

    - Climb to the campanile. This is a MUST. Great views from there, and you can take excellent photos of the whole Venice.

    - Get lost in Venice. Yes this is a must also. Walk away from the San Marco square, and experience the campos and campielos, the narrow streets. I would suggest from Accademia towards Zattere, is a very nice walk. Or in Castello.

    - Visit Burano (not Murano, Burano).

    - Take the vaporetto and cruise the whole canal

    - Drink (once) a coffee at Florian's in San Marco Square (9 euros).

  2. 1) It is best to visit in the spring or autumn when it is caller and less crowded

    2) Venice is not cheap and to a great extent the expenses will depend on  the type of place you want to stay and where you eat. It is a lot cheaper to stay outside of Venice and get the train in for the day.

    3) St Marks Square, Gondola ride etc are the cliched things to do but just walk around of the beaten track and savour the atmosphere.

  3. 1. September & October although December has started out just fine.

    2. After hotel costs, which almost always offers breakfast... you'll have two meals to cover and some fun money.

A slice of pizza & beverage goes for about 5 Euro.... a full meal at the touristy places with a fixed price can go for about 20 Euro, beverages (wine) excluded. A meal at a restaurant can go from 30 to 80 Euro a person.

Fun money for a mask can cost anywhere from 20 Euro to 150.00 easily. Glass from (China) anywhere from 5 Euro to thousands (for the real stuff). A coffee, had a t the bar and not sitting costs 1 Euro, a glass of wine 2 Euro, a Spritz about 2 Euro too.

    3. Visit the Dodges Palace, St. Marks Basilica and the square. Go up the bell tower on the island of San Giorgio - the tower in St. mark's square is always crowded and the views are just as good if not better. Take your camera to Burano. Go visit the cemetery – really.

Finally, the best part of Venice is getting lost around town.... It’s so small that you’ll always find your way “back”.
