    If by communication port, you talking about the serial/parallel ports , you can turn them on/off from :

    1: Bios : most bioses support such a feature, along with a way to choose which i/o port you are going to link each physical port.

    2: OS: typically in windows, you can choose to 'deactivate' your COM or LPT ports.
