  1. You just need to be able to create more support force at ground contact. The reason you are slow is because you collapse at the ankle/knee at ground contact. Do isometric holds with as much weight as possible for 10-30 seconds. Get in a leg press machine and lift with both legs then hold with one leg with knee almost straight and on ball of foot. Also try "negatives" again where you lift with both legs but lower with one to beginning position. Rotate these every four days or so. Negatives get you very sore so start slowly and only do about 5-8 heavy reps. Run short fast sprints at your top speed to coordinate strength with speed.

  2. hey im a cheerleader...r u hot?

  3. improve your flexibility

  4. Do you have a good running shoe?  This is key for long distance or even a sprint.  Try  http://www.therunningadvisor.com/running...

for some very helpful advice.  Good luck & keep practicing!

  5. stretch before and after

    and practice starts

  6. Do plometrics and interval training. This will really help acceleration and improve your time. When you do interval training it is important for the rests to be 30 seconds or greater. Also skip rope, it increases foot speed (helps your starts) and is great for cardio.

  7. you could work on your reaction time to get a faster start.  One thing that supposedly works is have a friend stand a distance away from you and drop a tennis ball from shoulder height you run and have to catch it before second bounce but cant leave til ball leaves their hand

  8. Pump your arms when you are running. Pump them from your pockets to ears. My coach always tells my team this because it always works. And don't forget to run on your toes as well because you need to lift off of them to run faster.

  9. Plyometrics...google "plyometrics football" and you'll find plenty of drills that will significantly improve your 40 time.
