  1. It is an easy knot to tie.  Here are a couple of links that will show you exactly how to do it.  Best of luck with it.

  2. http://www.tollesburysc.co.uk/Knots/Knot...

  3. Go to animatedknots.com. Or take the bitter

end and pass it under the bail of the bucket, twice. Then around the standing part, and under itself twice in the same direction. Round turn and two half hitches.

  4. A half hitch is not at all secure but you already have answers to that.  I agree that it is best to at least wrap the line twice around the handle before tying the knot.  If you want to add a little security to the same knot, instead of wrapping around and under the standing portion once you could go twice, and then another half hitch.  I believe this is called a surgeons knot and it is more secure yet easy to remove.  Check it out on the web site you were given.

  5. I have a couple pictures of the half-hitch as well as a bowline, which would work well for your purpose.

Send me an email and I'll send you the pictures in a jpeg format (which any computer can open.)

  6. Left over right, then right over left, it's not hard!
