  2. possibly yes its passed by saliva. call the vet and call your dr to determine risk factors.

  3. Yes, your pup CAN have RABIES.  Take all of them to a vet.

  4. hi,

It's probably the best-known of all animal diseases and--luckily for dog owners--now among the most rare in the Western world. But rabies is still a deadly and highly contagious disease, and it's only held in check by careful health practices, an aggressive vaccination program, and quick action when a case crosses over from the wild animal population to pets.

    hope this helps.

  5. OK, huh?  The mother died last year?  And she has a 6 week old puppy?  I'm assuming that that was a typo.  I have never heard of a rabid mother giving rabies to her babies in uterus.  If she bit the puppies after they were born there is a very good chance that she spread the virus.  Take the puppy to the vet and have it diagnosed.  If she died only recently and any bites were within about a week there is a chance that with treatment the puppy could live.  Go to the vet and get it vaccinated for all viruses and diseases including rabies, if it has not already been infected.

  6. The only way to tell is to quarantine her for 10 days.  If by that time she does not exhibit any signs of rabies then it's probably safe to say she does not have rabies.  Call your vet and explain the situation and ask him what needs to be done.

  7. I just looked up some stuff for you. Incubation period is about 60 days usually. It would have started incubating prior to birth so you're PROBABLY OK. The inc. period can be longer in some cases but not usually and only passes to offspring in some cases. In other words your pup has a fair chance of being ok. The only thing you can really do is research, talk to a vet and monitor/Quarrantine your dog for a while. Don't give up but keep your pup away from everyone (ESPECIALLY KIDS)

    until you know for sure

  8. you can't tell by a test..have to put them in isolation for a while................
