I own a laptop that does not have a CD rom. I have NERO 8. Is it possible to use this to burn ISO images to the HDD and run or install programs that would normally require a disk? If so, how? If not, what do I need to do, because I dont want to lug around an external drive to run or install programs?

  1. You have said that your computer does not have a CD-ROM. Actually, I think you mean your computer does not have a CD-Drive, the slot where CDs are installed. Because, plain CDs are called CD-ROMs.

Well, if that is the case then you can't burn CDs. But if you want to operate a .iso image file, you can do so by using programs which provide virtual drives.

A virtual drive is a folder like drive which is formed by that program on your computer and makes the computer read it as a drive. Such virtual drives are used if the user does not have a physical drive to use an image file.

    Download Daemon Tools: http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/download...

    Click on DAEMON Tools Lite.

Once you install it, restart. Then start it, right click on it's taskbar right hand side icon, and select the number of virtual drives. You may set it to 1. Set the number of Virtual Drives to 1. Then, once it is done, again right click on the right hand side taskbar icon and go and Mount your .iso image onto it.

The .iso file will be opened this way. If you have more than one .iso file, right click and eject first one, then mount the other one.

    Hope this helps.
