  1. hubby works for a railroad. He is an engineer, My suggestion to you is if you are using drugs go flip burgers. Many Many times they have drug tested guys at his work and fired them I was glad to see them go.. my hubbys life is more important that someone getting high.

  2. Just don't.  What's to know.  If you're doing drugs that aren't prescribed to you by a doctor, you've got no business doing them.

  3. The rules are the same for ALL ... whether you work on airplanes, trains or in a big truck, and I believe also on the rivers.

You go to an authorized testing center and they do the testing.  They put in safeguards to prevent you from cheating.

Your question tells me you do drugs and want to cheat the test.  That's not a good plan and I don't think it's possible to cheat the way they do it.  You need to get clean, kiddo.  If you do drugs, you shouldn't be working for the RR anyway.  You can kill a lot of people by your actions when on drugs.  That's why they have the testing, and safeguards to prevent cheating.

The NSRR UTU Union has nothing to do with controls for the testing.

  4. The unions dont do the testing.

It is mandated by the federal gov't.

There are pre-employment tests, post accident tests, "probable cause tests" and random tests.

Some of the tests are done on the property, some are done at a medical facility, all testing is very carefully regulated. There is urinalysis, breathanalysis and blood testing.

The section of the federal code specifying what tests are to be used and when is quite long and complicated.

If you arent clean and planning on staying clean, the RR is NOT the place to look for work.

I know a lot of guys in the past that thought they could "cheat" the system, both with drugs and alcohol, they arent here any more.

  5. If you are talking about random testing while at work, or after an incedent, such as a yard derailment, then I'll tell you what I know.  I've never been tested since applying for the job, but I know guys who have and this is what they told me.  A manager will come pick you up, and take you to the yard office, and if you don't have to "go", they will give you water until you do.  A certified or professional "tester" will be there, someone who will oversee the test that does not work for the railroad, and you can request that a union representative be there also.  Then you go in a little room and p**s in a cup.  This is by no means a quote from the union or railroad, just what I have heard, but UTU does have a website, and I'm sure you could find info. on there, or just call your union rep., he or she should answer any questions, that's what we pay them for.
