Would it be okay to get only one ferret? I go to school 7:30-2:30, and I doubt my mom would play with the thing during that time...

We are getting a ferret - it took a lot of careful persuasion by me to my parents...should I risk suggesting that we get 2?

  1. As long as your single ferret gets LOTS of attention and playtime with you (a good 4-6 hours daily AT LEAST) then having a single is fine. Singles do bond stronger with their humans.

I am, however, of the thought that having more than one is more fun for everyone. I do understand thought that at this time, it might be a stretch for you and your family.

My answer, simply put, is: yes. Just make sure you play with him a lot and he gets lots and lots of exercise and love!

  2. Getting 2 could actually be better if you're not going to be able to play with it at least 4 hours a day. Though a ferret sleeps around 20 hours a day, it needs attention the four hours it's up, and that can be a problem if you are at school that time.

Despite the double p**p duty, it has quite a few benefits.

  3. Ferrets are expensive pets-they require a large enough cage ,they are not a hamster and cannot be left in a cage all the time.they also need a high quality ferret food with a protein level of 38% or higher,a fat level of 15% or higher and because they are obligate carnivores, they cannot digest plant protein.Which means no fillers in their food. That is hard to find so the less the better like inovva evo zupreem.

Ferrets also need shots from your vet.A rabies as required by most states and a distemper, as canine distemper is 99% fatal to ferrets.

SO  have only as many ferrets as you are able to pay veterinary care for.they also will get sick in their lifetime as they are neutered and spayed too early causing adrenal disease, they surgery for that can run you 1000.00 .be prepared. they also have a tendency to eat thing that cause intestinal blockages, another surgery, more money. Also if you are going to get a ferret, consider adopting one, allot of people discard ferrets when they find out how expensive they are ,how much work they require and how they aren't the easiest things to litter train.

  4. It's not a thing...

If you have any other animals ferrets would like to play with them like dogs or kittens. If you don't have any other pets or tubes for him to play in alone, convince your mum to try to play with him a bit while you're at school. I don't think that you go to school for long, so it could be okay though.

I would suggest to your mum to get two though.

  5. Get 2. It's not that different than one. I tried only having one for a little while....and then I got my second and my boy is so much happier having someone to play with when I'm not around [:

  6. We have one ferret. I go to school the same time as you and you just need to make sure that it gets out at least once everyday. If you get a second make sure you get both of them out. If you really thinnk that you're not going to have enough time to get one of them out, don't get any. Even if they have each other, they both need to get out.
