  1. hello i am a mom of 6 4 are my own u can get on WIC for formula shots and milk and things like that and no they dont contact the father for that. U can also get on food stamps and hud but if your husband makes to much money u wont qualifiy. The DFS office is who u contact for food stamps ect the child could also get health insurence with no fee to u.To get WIC u need to contact your health department and if you would like to earn some extra money and still stay at home like i do which i choose to to raise my kids my way you can join my tupperware team its great money and fun.

  2. your local health department should have a program called wic that will help out in buying food for the baby. you might want to check into that.  It's not welfare, and it is a very good program.

  3. What I was told by a friend, if you accept the welfare checks that would be sent to you.. it is pretty much child support in the end it will be coming from your husband - if he doesn't pay it back the state will garnish his wages.

Like I said, It was what I was told by a friend.

  4. It really depends on where you live and whether you qualify for services.  If you are struggling financially and are having difficulty providing housing, food and the basic necessities for you and your baby then you probably do need some assistance.  One program here is WIC and stands for Women, Infant, Child.  It gives you coupons to buy milk and other nutritious food for you and your baby. Look in your local phone book for welfare services and call to make an appointment. Be honest with them and if you qualify for something they will help you.

  5. when mine were little I didn't work either, I babysat 2-3 other children mon-fri 7-5 and made a little tax free money that way.

  6. Just because you don't drive doesn't mean you can't work outside the home.  You could work from home, take the bus, take a cab, or walk.  If you need ideas about things you can do at home to earn money, just Google "work from home" and you'll get gazillions of options.  You could also consider watching other people's children if you're home all day with your own child -- many stay-at-home moms earn extra income this way.

  7. They have lots of programs. WIC is one that I am on, it will pay for formula until they are one and after that some food until they are five. Don't be ashamed to get help from the government when you need it (i am not saying abuse it). Remember they are taking money out of your husbands checks every month. In a time of need it's ok to get some of it back.

  8. There are many programs that you can research from the social service department.  I believe that there are programs that offer subsidized childcare, where if you are in the low income range perhaps the government can provide you with assistance for childcare while you work.

Going on welfare has to do with how many people in your household and how much income is coming in.  There are guidelines and charts.  Again research the social service department.  Being on welfare doesn't necessarily mean that you're a single mother and going after the father.
