  1. x = 10/7

    How?

    5(4/7) = 2x

    20/7 = 2x

    x = 10/7

  2. Cross multiply and you get 4*5 = 2x*14 or 20 = 14x.  Divide by fourteen and you get:

    x = 10/7 or about 1.43

  3. 4/7 = 2x/5

    You need to isolate the variable, which is x. To start, multiply by five on both sides.

    5*4/7 = 2x

    or

    20/7 = 2x

    Now you'll need to divide by two on both sides, right? That's the same as multiplying by 1/2.

    20/14 = x

    Simply the fraction.

    Your answer is {10/7}

  4. 4/7 = 2x/5

    2x = 5(4/7)

    2x = 20/7

    x = (20/7)/2

    x = 10/7 or 1 3/7

    Answer: x = 10/7 or 1 3/7

    Proof:

    4/7 = (2[10/7])/5

    4/7 = (20/7)/5

    4/7 = 4/7
