  1. I've visited with crew members on 3 different cruises. They claim they don't get paid an awful lot, but it is their home with everything included. Also it is an up-beat work environment and everyone is in a good mood all the time. They are also like family to each other. They have many different jobs. For instance, the dancing girls in the theater at night might be welding or something in the mornings!! And yes, they do have the occasional day off to go ashore and snorkel with the dolphins or have a beer or something. Cruise lines charge crew members cost for beer and the like. While the passengers pay $4.50 for a beer, crew members get it for 75c.

I saw a button for employment opportunities on carnival.com Check it out!!!

  2. This website has job descriptions of most positions on a cruise ship:

Also: working on a ship is really hard work, 10-12 hours a day, 7 days a week for contracts that range between 4 and 12 months at a time.  Not for the faint-hearted, but the opportunities can be pretty amazing.

  3. I think that depends on a number of things. For example: where the boat works and what type of cruises it's doing. How big it is, and what level of luxury does it afford. Very important would be who you would be working for and with..

I run a smallish cruise boat through the Kimberley in Western Australia. Magnificent country, lots of fishing, onshore activities such as exploring  for hidden water holes, aboriginal art, swimming, bush tucker etc..........I'm sure this is totally different from a large cruise boat in the Mediterranean.
