And please, no one correct me on my spelling, it IS "my friends and I" that answer was really annoying, I'm an english major.

Anyways, what would the money be like and would beer have been readily available, remember in ireland, 1315 was the beginning of the great famine. GREAT famine, NOT potato famine...

  1. i suppose gold coins would have been prominant but the brehon laws would have but value on material things like cattle and land

Beer was available, coins would have been minted as vikink coins from 988 would have been found, also some roman coins have been found in ireland even though it was never invaded by the romans which suggests trade between ireland and rome via roman britan

  2. Monetary system, dear.

At that time, wealth was measured by the number of cattle and horses you owned.

  3. No offence, but it is "...for my friends and me".  "Me" is the accusative case, whereas "I" is the nominative.  You wouldn't say "do you have something for I" you say "do you have something for me" and the same applies no matter what nouns you put before "I" or "me".

As for the money, this site http://www.irishcoinage.com/ explains coinage and has some pictures of coins.  Beer would have been available.

  4. "my friends and I" would be grammatically correct. If the gobshites on this site have nothing better to offer than trying to prove their superiority over the rest of us peons please! get back to your knitting and possibly some reading other than "Chaucer:" another English speaking wonder. Any hoots the main monetary system of the day as my learned brethren so poignantly pointed out was grain, crops and possibly silver or gold coin " from mainland Europe". However the measure of a persons wealth would have been decided on land accumulation and or the size of ones herd.

    Hope I was of help
