Soccer tryouts start on Monday, and I want to make sure I'm doing all I can to get ready. What is the most important thing for me to do? Please dont't just say run, I want to know how fast, and for how long, and anything else. I missed conditioning camp, so I want to do all I can to make up for that. Oh, I can run about a 7 minute mile if that matters, and I am comfortable running about 2 miles.

  1. Running in soccer is quite different than track or cross country. You don't just use the same set of muscles over and over again. When I run during soccer practice, it is a combination of sprinting, jogging, side stepping, running backwards, changing direction. Of course, there is no way to train for exactly the kind of running in a game or tryout, so it is best to train with all the methods of movement above. As for how long, you should run, you really shouldn't overexert yourself this close to tryouts. I once ran until I almost blacked out and I could barely move the next day. You should go for a light run and stretch the morning of the tryouts and try not to sit around too much. With only two days, its hard to get better endurance, but some good running should make you feel better.

  2. Soccer try outs are first of all about your physical shape. So you have to get really fast and really strong and improve your stamina. In order to do that, You've gotta RUN a whole lot for long periods of time. You can also practice other sports that will get you stronger and will improve your stamina such as swimming, cycling and also you can lift weights.

Then, it is gonna be about the actual sport: soccer. so train your soccer skills: passing the ball and shooting it. just try to hit a target that's far away with the ball. your dribbling skills: the best way is to just play actual games with your friends and try to play as well as you can while having fun. that's what soccer is all about: fun. I hope this help. Good Luck!!!

Oh sorry I forgot to take a look at your avatar. and didn't notice you were a girl. well it doesn't change much anyway because soccer isn't about guys or girls but about skills. so yeah the training still works but one more advice: when you are playing, forget that you are a girl. don't be scared of the ball and protect it as well as you can. also, run like you mean it. if you do that, you'll really get better. good luck!!!

  3. i would do suicides ball control practice on your weak foot alittle practice your punts and corner kicks. also you could try runnning and controling your breathing so you wont get as tired as fast because yourbreathing heavy its either in through your mouth and out through your nose or vise versa....but i play soccer and i play mid. which i have to do the most work and these are some of the things i work on and about the weak foot some times your coach will want to see you try on that foot and make it stronger
