I need to know what video camera i should use for a web show for my website/youtube etc?

My spending limit is $450, i already have special effects software.

i just need a good camera and am going to get a tripod stand.

Night vision is prefered...

I've never really worked with video cameras except for a really old bad one so advice would be very nice. thanks

Stay with miniDV tape for best video quality.

ALL camcorders have night-cision... but only *some* camcorders (certain Sony cams) com with the infrared emmitter built in. If you get a camera without a built-in infrared emitter, just get and external infrared emitter...

In your price range:

Canon ZR800, ZR950

The Sony cameras have a "Normal" and "Low" audio gain selection in the menu so you can handle loud noises (like bands). If you don't reduce the audio gain, that loud audio will be muddy and clip a lot and be useless.

You need the external mic jack because the internal mics are not too good on ANY camcorder. It would be better if you had manual audio control, too, but the cheapest cameras with that are the Canon HV20, HV30, Sony HDR-HC7 and HC9.
