Shasta and Lassen are the two southernmost volcanoes of 13 in the Cascade Volcanic Belt extending north into British Columbia. The last volcano to erupt was St. Helens in 1980.

All 13 of the Cascade volcanoes are currently dormant, meaning they could erupt at any time with little or no warning.  Like earthquakes, there is no way to control or predict the eruptions, all we know is that they certainly will erupt again.
