You see, I'm in a pickle. My grandfather, God bless his Irish heart, is racist against Asian people. Even since his military days. And earlier this year, my work sent me to Osaka, Japan. So instead of telling him I was going to Asia, I decided to tell his that I was going home for a few weeks, that is, to Ireland. Problem I'm having is that he had asked me to get 3 things:

A picture of Kenoby Hall (Photoshopped)

A case of non-American, non- watered down Guinness. (I Shipped it from overseas)

And a couple 'Irish Rocks'.

Sooooo, where could I get an Irish rock, without going to Ireland?

Thank you to anyone who may answer.

  1. Get some limestone and just tell him it's from Ireland. It's the most plentiful rock here. He sounds pretty fussy though, so I don't know if you'll get away with it or not.

  2. I believe a rock is a rock.  I doubt he'll be able to tell an American rock from an Irish rock... that is, unless you happen to find a talking rock.  =)

  3. I wonder does he mean a candy rock, a little like a candy cane except bigger, thicker and and without the bend in it. Usually wrapped with a sticker inside saying 'A gift from Ireland'. I remember these as a kid myself - they were standard souvenir gifts we used to bring back to our parents from a day or weekend trip. They were called 'Rocks.' Instead of Ireland on them, it would have the name of the town we visited.

I have just quickly scanned the net to see if I could find a link for you, but couldn't. Maybe someone else could lead you to to a site.

On the other hand, maybe he doesn't mean these type of rocks at all.

  4. have you not considered picking up a rock from the ground - outside where you are ?

a rock is a rock...but if your really fussy ill send you some but the price is high for a good rock!

  5. hello

can you not just give him normal rocks

and go ,,oh these are irish''

and if he says they're not

go ,,oh that blasted interweb, selling me false things again!''

    OR

    i'll send you some
