  1. It depends on what are looking for.

  2. The North is the poorest and has the least to offer. I would not advise going there on a vacation although it would make a great mission trip. Any beach on the East coast is great, the generic white sand blue water is all you can see. Some of Brazil is the Amazon jungle and river, it is very deserted but cruise ships and tours are readily given. The South is the most touristy place of all. There are lots of Europeans so it is the most diverse. You are more likely to find people who speak English here. The Italians make amazing wines, cheeses and pastas. You can attend wine festivals along with the German's Ocktober fest. Carnival, the biggest party in the world, is held in Rio which is in the south with Salvador, a very artsy  and famous city. Rio is where you find the very famous Christ the Redeemer statue and Corcovado the penninsula. Iguassu Falls is found in the south bordering Argentina and is a great attraction. Overall the south has better food and vacatoin spots but everything is more authentic in smaller towns and especially in the amazon.

  3. The other answers are good, but, I have some answers for similar questions. If you be patient and curious, you will see each of these links and I assure you'll find the right place for to visit in Brazil.
