I need to light a match, other than than striking it on the box , how can i light it?

Can anyone help? I've tried pavement and on a brick.. No luck. :(

Today's safety matches are lightable only off of the strip on the box/book (unless highly heated, ie, magnifying glass and a hot sun).  If this is a riddle I'd say "off of another lit match/lighter," if it's homework I'd say, "Go look up the chemistry involved" since that's what the teacher is probably looking for.

I would set it at 40 paces, and then shoot the tip with a 40 cal glock.

i always use the bottom of my boot that usually works or a belt buckle something like that

wouldn't it be easier to get a lighter?

Blue jeans if you where them try rubbing it on the side of your leg the friction should light it.  

You may have bad matches they could have gotten wet a one point and that's why they won't light.
