I need to lube my bike's chain. Do I need to buy the $20 lubricant from the bike store or is there a generic product that I can buy at Wal Mart or AutoZone?

  1. $20 lube?  Man, are you shopping in Vail or something?  A bottle of Tri-Flow (wet lube) or White Lightning (dry lube) will only set you back $5 to $7 and last for a long time.

    Whatever you do, NEVER use WD-40; it is NOT lubricant!

I bought a 4 ounce bottle of Finish Line dry lube and paid about four dollars.  I've paid more for White Lightning, 12 dollars for 12 ounces, but it lasted two years.  There is a $20.00 bottle of lube from Pedros you can get, but it's a big bottle and will probably last long enough to give to one of your kids when they head off to college.
