I'm starting college on August 25th as a full-time student. I need to make money for a car, but I don't know if I'll be able to fit a job into my schedule.

Regardless, I still want and need a job. I have no previous work experience and I'm not 18 yet. So needless to say, my job applications don't look to appetizing to employers.

Any suggestions? Thank you for your help.

  4. Quite honestly, you have two choices because of your schedule... either go to school full time and work part-time or work full-time and go to school part-time. As you get education you will qualify for more jobs and more money so you need to make schooling a priority no matter how many classes you take. It will be worth it in the end. Look into jobs that offer tuition reimbursement... look into scholarships and financial aid... look into using your time and talents to make money any way that you can and look into ways to reduce your expenses. It will be worth it to go without alot of things that you don't really need until you can afford them. Perhaps you don't really need a car as much as you want one. Perhaps you don't really need a cell phone or expensive rent or expensive clothes. The more you spend, the less you'll have. Right now it's important to focus. Grab a job at McDonalds or Walgreens or whatever you can to have something. Time will help you move up to other jobs more suited to your education. You cannot reach your goals if you don't set them so be realistic and go after whatever you want in life. Start with needs!!! You need that education right now so don't let anything or anyone stop you from pursuing it.

  6. hello - good for you for going to school full time.  that will be very valuable to you in the long run.  maybe there is a job waiting tables you can pick up.  often when school starts again restaurants have high turnover etc., could be a good time to find a job like that.  also, check out craisglist, se if there are any jobs posted you may be able to do.  and post your own, saying you will run errrands, mow lawns, whatever, you never know, i have found pick-up work that way on occasion.  good luck!

  7. well you could always stick with starting your own buisness! Its really a good way to go. My sisters, friends brother does it for his living. He makes more money in a week than my sister does working at hannafords for a year!

He has his own company called Matts Wash and Wax and he washes and waxes cars.

But if you dont have a lot of time, it IS your OWN buisness and you can work on scheduled hours that fit your day to day life. Its a great way to make some cash. Matt bought a 40,000 dollar car after a couple months!

  8. Try fastfood or retail, they are always looking to hire some people and get rid of them after training hours are over.
