My stepmom is graduating school in two days. The only problem is, I've been on vacation for the last little while at my Dad's house, and I thought that I had five more days of vacation time before they dropped me off the day before school starts. But I just got a phone call that I have to go back in only two days so I don't miss her grad ceramony. I just feel really sad because I have to miss my trip to Banf which we

have been planning for weeks and I have to go home so early just to see her speak for fifteen minutes (which I REALLY want to be there for.) and then sit through a long ceramony and then sit at home bored . I want to see her sooo badly and be there for her but I hate missing the last of my summer vacation plans. Sorry this is sooo long but is there any advice on what I should do? If I decide to stay at my dads how the heck do I tell her when I feel so bad? Thanks!

  1. Loving someone who has been good to you sometimes means making sacrifices.  Go to the graduation would be my advice.

  2. You need to suck it up and go to her graduation.  It is being extrememly selfish to think only about you and the fun you will miss.  Vacations come every summer, and you can always do it another time.  Your stepmom graduates only once, and this is a memorable time for her.  Unless you would be okay if she missed your graduation, getting ready for prom, wedding day, etc., don't expect her to be ok with you missing her graduation.  You need to show her some respect, go to the graduation, and enjoy spending time with her on this special day.

  3. She's going to speak for 15 minutes at her graduation?  WOW!  That means she is valedictorian?  OMG, that is totally incredible!  Don't you dare miss it!

You can take vacations all the rest of your life, and you will enjoy them greatly, too, but this is too special to miss, without a doubt.

After the graduation, plan a little special treat for yourself as consolation for the missed trip, but definitely attend.
