I need to paint my living room and would love some tips!?

It is 12X16. I have a light grey carpet. I have white trim but I am thinking of changing it to a light to medium brown of some kind. I hate the color blue, there is too much of it in my house. Also, I would like to paint with decent paint, like something from Lowe's like Valspar or something. How much would that cost? Thanks for everyone's input here!

Consult Consumer Reports for advice on which paint is best. My sisters and I prefer Behr, sold at Home Depot.

The paint will probably look a lot darker on your walls than it does on the sample card and even the test sample you put on your wall.  The higher the gloss, the darker the color will look. It will look darker on textured walls. It will look different at different times of the day too.

Don't  decide on the color until you have seen it in the early am, noon and late pm.

Take your time and do the prep. Use good quality brushes and rollers for the best result.
