I need to plug 3 trucks in this winter that draw 1500w ea. What would be the best way to wire outlet box?

  1. First determine what each pulls in amps

    Volts X Amps = Watts

    So if they are 1500 watts / 110 Volts = 13.63 amps per heater.

    So each circuit should be fused at 15 Amps if they are going to only be used for the heaters.


  2. 1500 W is about the most you can get out of most wall outlets,

    if you plug in more than one, you will likely trip a circuit breaker.

    you really should have 3 separate breakers and outlets so that each is on its own circuit.

    it can be done with one breaker and set of wires, but you really should get an electrician to connect it so that the correct size wire is used for how long of a run you have back to the power box.


  3. I would set it up like a trailer pole with a 200 amp main breaker then three 30 amp breakers below. Get the pole as close to the source as you can, as the farther away you go the larger guage wire you have to use.
