I filed online through the free service with H&R Block last year and now the website I am going to is no longer there. H&R Block doesn't have anything on their website either.Who do I need to contact? I am just getting into a custody battle and I need to get a copy ASAP and I can't find my copy in my cabinet. Any ideas? And Keep in mind cheap or free is better, if any of you have been through custody then you know how pricey this can get. Thanks!!!

  1. Just call HR Block, I am sure they will be able to help you out.

  2. For FREE you can go to your local IRS office and request a transcript of your tax return, the transcript is a line by line transcript of all information you filed on your Federal Tax return and accepted by IRS.

At the same time you can also request the wage information (W2) they will also provide you with a transcript not the actual copies of the W2.

Good luck, a copy of your tax return is $39.00 and takes up to 6 weeks to receive it.  (Form 4506)

  3. an important document like you are talking about , needs to be copied . so i surjest you go into a libuary and copy the documents , before sendinding them vie the website

  4. If H&R Block can't help you, then you can call the IRS (1-800-TAX-1040) and request a transcript of your return.  You may need to fill out a 4506T form so look for it on www.irs. gov.  Print it out, fill it out, and be ready to fax it if they request you to do so.  How they handle this seems to depend on who answers the phone at IRS.  Sometimes they will fax it to me - you need to have access to a fairly private fax for them to be willing to do this.

If you have to mail the form in, it will take a few weeks to get the transcript back.

If you need an actual copy of the tax return, you can fill out a regular 4506 form and mail it in with a $39 check and they will actually copy your return for you.

Next year you might want to print two copies of the return and file it in two places.  Also - getting a special colored notebook, filing envelope, file folder or file box can help in keeping track of your tax records.
