I need to reinstall windows xp- and before i do it i want to retrive pictures stored on my computer .how?

i was doin a system recovery and computer got shut down mid process now when i restart keeps saying there is a configuration error- so i was wondering before i reinstall the windows xp i want to retrieve my pictures from my computer is there an easy way?

  1. download a live cd  called puppylinux pop it in your cd-rom

    let your computer boot from this live cd , wait until every thing is up and running.

    mount the hard drive were the pics are.

    attach a usb drive to your computer , then ,

    mount the usb flash drive.

    fanally copy your pic from the hard drive to the usb hard drive.

  2. Have you tried this:

    When you turn the computer on as soon as you see Bios read what it says to do. It will say to press two keys at the same time. My husband had to do this and he's not sure which buttons. Do it right away and keep clicking.  We had same problem and this worked. Then load your XP and it should start the process. Once you can get to your drives you can get the pictures.

  3. You can do that by slaving your hard drive to another working pc and access it and get your data on that drive.
