I need to ring my freind in spain but will it charge them to?

i want to ring my freind who is on holiday in spain but someone told me that if i ring them it will also charge there phone aswell they are on a contract phone so how true is this ?

  1. Yes, they will pay for part of the call and it will be the greater of the two. Having said that, calls have come down in price following the EU directive.


  2. As far as I know, it doesn't charge them... when I was over there, we got free incoming calls to our cell. And I still call my friend over there on his landline, and it doesn't charge him!!!

  3. I'm pretty sure it depends on the program that he pays for in UK.

    The cells that I rented to use in Spain did not charge the receiving caller. But my US service charges me for receiving calls when I'm roaming.  It's about his provider.
