I moved to California awhile ago and finally decided to go back to Iowa to bring my car back. Now that I officially have it here, I need to sell it. I have a buyer, but was wondering what I would need to do differently. The car is still registered in Iowa and has Iowa plates and I have the title in my hands. Please help!

  1. As long as you have the title, your ok. Sign over the Iowa title as you would any title. The new owner has no choice but to reapply for a new title in CA and that buyer will get a CA title. Be sure to remove your Iowa plates at the time is the sale. CA will inform IA via computer that the title has transferred & that's all there is to it.

  2. It's the buyer's issue. No big deal. They have to register the car and pay the tax anyway. I buy cars out of state all the time.

  3. Here is what you need to do to get your answers. Is simle call the DMV. They will give you the answer you need. And you will not have toruble sell the car.

  4. Nothing ,just sign the title and he will just have to get a state inspection before he can tag it
