I work for a physician who needs me to send a text message to his phone with an embedded patient number in it. The number will highlight in blue but when he calls back his personal number is sent. He wants me to use *67, but then his phone does not highlight it so he can touch to call back.

  1. The sad truth is that you may need to teach your boss how to use his mobile!

When you send an SMS with a number beginning with *67, the phone software does not recognise it as a telephone number, and so it does not allow the one touch dialling.

Depending on your boss's phone, there are two ways that he can achieve it when you send an ordinary number to him:

1 He will need to activate "Hide ID for next call" if the phone has that function (I had a Motorola with that function, and assigned it to shortcut-1)

2 He will need to edit the number in the display to add the *67 in front of it before hitting send.

He may need the assistance of a teenager to find those functions! :)

The only other thing I can think of, and I have no way of testing it, is to enclose the *67 number in quotes eg "*67xxxxxxxx" when you send the SMS
