I need to send money to africa.?

Question

I have a friend who lives in a small town in africa and they are trying to build a school there and improve their conditions overall. I am raising money to help them and I already have some. If I try to send large amounts of money how likely is it for it to get there? Would it be better to find an organization to send it there? If so, any recomendations for organizations?
