I need to take the cta to get to my high school. what pass should i get to pay as low as i can?

i bought the student riding permit from my high school. do i just have to charge it and use that or do i have to show my student id before i can use it. i heard that you need to show your student id the student riding permit and then another card. whats the other card? what card do you recommend i buy to get to school for the lowest possible price for me. i take two busses to get to school.
