  1. Look up Fair City on You tube.

That's an Irish soap and there's loads of accents to choose from.

    = )

  2. Fallen Angel:  No, no  th's are t's d's are t's

    bh's are v's

    mh's are v's

    augh is ock

there are exceptions to all the rules though

    e.g. north = nort

The North Eastern American accent (Boston) is so similar to Irish that you could get away with it to all but a native Irish person.

Seriously though, there are at least a dozen different accents in Ireland, you will get major disagreements between those from the south and north of the Republic, and the Mayo accent is a different kettle of fish altogether!

Then you have the Northern Irish accents....

  3. I'm Irish. I wish I could loan you my Cork accent for a day. lol

Just pronounce all your "th"s as "de" and you'll be grand.

And at the end of every sentence you have to say:

"Ya know wot I mean like" in a slightly melodical tone

    Say phrases like:

    I'm grand tanx

    It's givin' a bit

    Jaysus that's great craic

Jaysus ya can't be doin' dat

    How's she cuttin'?

    What's the craic?

I was absolutely langers last night

Did ya see the head on yer man over there with the big stick on him and he ragin' like a bull.

    :) Hope that helped

  7. watch something with irish people in it, make sure its irish and not northern irish, as we speak very different than southern irish. check it out online, go to youtube and watch father ted episodes or ballykissangel.

  8. Watch Irish films like The wind that shakes the barley, Michael Collins (DO NOT imitate Julia Roberts here though), The Commitments, The Snapper, The Van... or like someone said the soap Fair City.
