Question:

I need to temporarily tape up my flute??

The end piece is falling off and I need to have it stay on. Any ideas on what to use to tape it up just temporarily? You know, so it doesn't wreck the flute, but so that it's sturdy enough to hold that last piece on.

  1. Try putting it in a different "climate" overnight.  My band director told me that the flutes can expand and contract depending on the heat it's in so if it's really hot where you nrmally keep it try to keep it in a colder place if possible.  (If all else fails you could always try thr fridge??? But that's a last resort thing though!!)  Ad vise versa.

    Good luk with the flute!!!

But do get it fixed oops forgot about that part almost!!  Take it to the shop ASAP!!!!

  2. No tape, Take it to the shop. Most any tape is going to cause damage to the lacquer and that stuff is more expensive. If you can rubber band it, try that, or string, just not too tight. Your best course of actions is going to be to get it fixed tomorrow and find one you can borrow from a friend, your school or band organization, and make due until you can get yours back. It is best not to cause more damage by putting off getting it fixed.

  3. At christmas i put tinsel on the end of my flute with cellotape and it doesn't do it any harm so maybe that would work?

  4. HI Lilly...

Best not to put your flute in the refrigerator.  So the foot joint is loose... and this is a common occurance from not putting the pieces on correctly.  But it is not a major fix for the repair techs.   What they will have to do is stretch the end piece of the body, just a tad.   You are asking what you can do until then...  I think to tape it all the way around is going to be to thick.   Just try putting the tape 1/4th of the way around... and leave the rest of the metal bare.   This should be enough to let it fit snuggly.  Get it to the repair tech as soon as possible.  Also,  you might want to ask him.... how did this happen.  What can I do to prevent it in the future.  This way you can avoid the same repair.

    Hope that helps.

  5. It's best just not to put anything on it and not play until you get it fixed... but if you definitely need to play it, ordinary scotch tape should work best.
