I need to tranfer the video footage! HELP?

I want to edit some footage my friend gave me on Video Hi-8 but her camcorder does not have a firwire/USB output so I can't transfer it to my computer.

Is there some sort of deck or converter I can buy from BestBuy or Circuit City to transfer it?

you really can't find converters in stores for everyday people but if you bring it into walgreens they should be able to put it on a disc for you which you can then put into your computer
