Well I recently started playing the drums in Feb. I've been playing percussion for at least 5 years so I wouldn't exactly call myself a beginner. But I have just started to play the drum kit. I didn't have much money to buy one in February so I just bought a really crappy set and now I feel like I deserve a better kit.

I want to start playing with people, and I don't want to have to play with the crappy set that I have. It would be embarrassing to say the least. So any advice on which kit to buy? What do you like/play? What price range should I be looking at (I'm not looking to be professional or anything, but I'm not a total novice)?

Oh and I like to play rock and jazz. No metal/screamo hardcore stuff.

  1. Try Pacific Drums by DW they are like almost pro drums but at an entry level cost. Does your cheap kit look like c**p or sound like c**p? If it sounds like c**p replacing the heads can do wonders. If it looks like c**p you can always refinish them. Best of Luck. (by the way I play Ludwig)

  2. If you ask me i would get a pearl. You can find really good deals at your local instumental store or on ebay. I started drumming a long time ago and my jazz band has gone to disney land chicago and a lot of diffrent places. Take my advice get rid of you old kit and get a pearl drum kit. Good luck!!!
