I need to work hard to get back in the team: Chris Tremlett – Cricket News Update
After undergoing back surgery, Surrey pace man Chris Tremlett is looking to make the long, hard journey back to England’s national squad.
“... it's obviously a setback when you have an injury and you're out for a long period of time,” he said. “I've only played one Test match in the last six or seven months. Naturally I'm going to have to work hard to get back in.”
The pacer played a pivotal role in England’s 3-1 victory in the 2010 Ashes Down Under, taking 17 wickets in three matches.
However, for most of last summer, Tremlett had been battling on-and-off back problems, which first flared up during the Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in July last year. After taking 3 for 80 and 1 for 44 in the first Test of the series, the pacer was forced
to step out owing to back trouble.
Another attempted comeback, in the first Test against Pakistan in UAE earlier this year, was foiled yet again, forcing him to fly back home in order to undergo surgery for a bulging disc.
“I did work hard before the Dubai trip," he said. "Unfortunately, however, after that first game in Dubai I did have a reoccurrence and I had to come home, which was disappointing.”
Added to the 30-year-old’s disappointments is the fact that he will be missing England’s tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TT-Bresnan-c2711
take the lead in England’s long list of pace bowlers for Tests.
However, the right-arm seamer has stated that at the moment he is focusing on playing for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Surrey-c851, and once he gets back into form and finds him rhythm, a spot on the national squad won’t be too hard to achieve. Meanwhile, he stressed his intent to get his
body back into shape.
“I don't feel there will be another reoccurrence if I work hard and get my body in shape,” he said, adding that he was looking towards the future, and feeling positive.
