Question:

I need to work on my touch, how can I do that?

In soccer games, sometime I can't control some balls and I sometimes start to panic when I get the ball. I play on a really good team, and obviously if I made the team the coach thinks i'm good enough. But I know that i'm still technically below all the players on that team and I sometimes let the team down. I need to work on my touch/control (like taking the ball down well and dribbling better) as well as not panicking. How can I do this by myself, like I train by myself a lot but don't know how i can work on it.

  1. JUGGLING!!! I had the same problem I was on a good team but my first touch let me down but now it's no problem at all. I promise it will help a lot!! Just juggle a lot. You will get the feeling of the ball and it will be easy to control. Also when juggling, try kicking the ball up in the air pretty high then control it and start juggling again. This teaches amazing touch and control. Try it.

  2. Trust me you will get better way better. First of all never be nervous when you get the ball, if you are nervous then you will mess up sooner or later. I like the saying you don't play with your feet you play with your mind. So when you get the ball embrace yourself for the worst if you do there will be nothing else to fear.

    That's for the Nerves.

For the first touch though you have to start practicing on it, you won't get it all at once it will take time and i mean long time just go out there and play with your heart and with a will and goal to accomplish, have full confidence. Go practice with your team if they are better that's okay you will get to thier level just practice on it.

  3. Prepare for your next touch, I had this same problem today.  My coach says stay calm, on your first touch, get the ball ready for your second touch/pass.  It really helps me.  If you have a person coming towards you make sure you don't panic and kick the ball into them or make your first touch towards them.  Try some basic drills for dribbly like going through cones and just dribbling across the soccer field a few times alone b4 practice.  It WILL help.  Good Luck!!! : )

  4. maybe try setting up cones in a line and weave around them, left and right.  keep on doing this and maybe you'll see improvement.

  5. Use a brick wall for touch passing and control

and trapping practice. Pop it quick off the instep

and recover on the rebound. In the beginning

you will chase the ball every now and then

anticipate the bounce contol ,trap and return.

Get the motion evolution down to 3 touches.

Practice with a friend who plays soccer.

Short accurate control passes are your desire.

    Now go have fun!

"Soccer players do it for 90 Minutes!!!"

  6. here's an easy drill that helped me. two cones about 10 yards apart. all you do is a figure 8 around the cones. this work on both ball control stamina and speed out of a turn or cut. once you get good at that see how many you can do in a minute. then spread the cones out even farther. (this really works ball control the farther apart the cones are.) Good Luck!

  7. Yay a soccer question.  Play small sided games. Indoor is ideal.  the action is at a much fast pace, forcing you to think quicker, and over time, be more comfortable on the ball.  This helped me immensely.  Juggling is always a plus too, but is less helpful in game-speed situations.  You need to just have more fast-paced experience.  It comes with practice.  Good luck.

  8. try using cones in your backyard. Also find a field and just jog around the field with the ball and keep it close. Then you can become more comfortable with the ball. Juggling helps somewhat it gives you a soft touch on the ball.

  9. on top af what everyone else told you again I have to suggest that you try playing hacky-sac do some stalls that will definatly soften your touch(it's worked for me since I was a kid). As for the nerves do your best, ignore the stress, and I'm shure know to keep your body between the ball and other players it's not hockey they won't bodycheck you so you have time think.
